Fond Farewell to Daniela

We wish Daniela and her family well as they travel to South Africa to be with relatives for the summer. We'll miss you, Daniela! See you in September!

Thank-you to parent volunteers, Mrs. Hector, Mrs. Freedman, Mrs. Porte, and Mrs. Morris, for their help with Reading Interviews today. Notes taken will inform us as we set individual goals for each student. We want summer reading choices to be appropriate in theme, difficulty, and style.

Literacy Day Gala

We had a fascinating afternoon of Storytelling - with Professor Potassium in the Science Lab, Kevin and his "Twelve Dancing Princesses" in the Gym, and Mrs. Piccinato (accompanied by her cat and three dogs) live on Skype.

Wordles Galore

LA - Keep working on Reading Rainbow #3. If you're following the time line, you should be working on your Publicity Poster this week. 8 X 11 paper was passed out today for the final copy. Hand-drawn or computer generated posters are all acceptable. Use artistic and design skills in whatever style you prefer.

While waiting for our guest accordionist, Mr. Ricky Mann, we tried and created lots of Wordles. Our language and visual/spatial skills were put to the test! Unfortunately, Mr. Mann will have to rebook, as he was unable to make it today.

Comfy Pajama Day

Thanks to everyone who contributed to helping students live & learn in Uganda.
We had a lovely comfortable day in honor of this cause.

Pizza Party Thank-yous

We had a special party today in second block to celebrate our accomplishments this year. Bravo, everyone! We also honored our two classmates, Abrish & Daniela, who will be leaving for various destinations in Europe at the beginning of June. We will miss them!

Thank-you to all who contributed to our party. Music, drinks, carrots, celery, fruit, cheese & vegetarian pizzas, and chips were enjoyed by all.

Over the mid-week holiday:
1. Work on Toon Doo Graphic Novel - 5 pages by Monday, May 31 - Log in at home.
2. Work on Reading Rainbow #3 assignment. Time management suggestion: complete paragraph summary of your character's life and accomplishments this week.

We had an excellent day, in spite of the fact that we were all disappointed with the weather and the cancellation of our Lag B'omer picnic. We all got ready to produce our Science Fiction Toon Doo Graphic Novels by filling out a skills checklist. We awarded our Free-To-Read prizes for March & April.
