L'ag B'Omer Picnic on Monday

Come to school Monday prepared for a walk to Kitsilano Beach. Good shoes, suntan lotion (I'm being optimistic!), an extra drink & snack in a light backpack, and a smile are all that's needed. Lunch will be provided at the beach. Arrival & dismissal are as per usual from VTT. We bus back from the beach. If parents would like to join us - meet at the front entrance of the school at 9:25 for departure at 9:30.

Independence Week

We have many special events this week - so students are being expected to work independently on their homework and assignments.

Math - P.O.W. - Thursday as per usual
We do our Science Sound Olympics on Wednesday (our usual Math double block)
so pp. 60, 61, 62 are to be completed in the Math Focus Workbook for Thursday.
Read instruction bubbles and work with a friend or mentor.
PP. 63, 64, 65 are due next Thursday, May 6.

We have another special event on Thursday ( SURPRISE ) - as well as Jeans Day ($2.00)

Shabbat Shalom

In Science class today, we had a fabulous lesson on Sustainability delivered by UBC student, Michelle Cheong. We hugged a tree, discussed visuals, listened to a song and wrote a journal entry. Thank-you, Michelle! We look forward to a follow-up lesson next week.

Mystery Flowers

I have received some lovely bouquets of tulips and primulas this week. To the mystery sender, thank-you for the cheer and beauty of these flowers in the classroom! I love them!

Ms. Sandi Evans treated us to an informative presentation on Multi-Intelligences today. This Enrichment Activity was enjoyed by all, and some of our discoveries about ourselves are outlined on questionnaires to be sent home tomorrow. Thank-you Ms. Evans!

Library Square "Book Sell"

We had a fascinating promo day for the variety of novels we read in Literature Circles.
We created a circle around a "microphoned" central courtyard, and had each student present their book with props, visuals, and passion. Even the paparazzi arrived! Watch for a video clip coming to the blog!

Thank-you to the students who helped run our mini-assembly in the Multi-Purpose Room.

No new homework was assigned today.
