Times Tables

It's time to brush up on basic multiplication facts! The JumpStart Program we will be following was sent home today (yellow handout). We aim to improve accuracy and speed. Mastery of these facts provides a solid foundation for more complex computation and problem-solving.

Our first computer class went well. We logged in, changed our passwords, and then began the "Grammar Detective" activity. We need more time with this, so blog errors will remain until next week.

Wednesday's Wonders

Wednesday is our busy day. We have Music, Art & P.E. Students are mastering routines quickly.

Math Focus Workbook - pp. 5,6,7 - due Monday (class time was provided yesterday and today)

Acrostic Poetry - due Friday

We are doing some special writing about our Babas and Zaides - in conjunction with National Grandparents' Day (first Sunday after Labor Day) - the students will be asking you to help freshen their memories as they remember what they learned from their grandmas & grandpas (egs. playing a card game, singing a song, throwing a baseball)

Terrific Tuesday

Remember gym strip on Mon, Tues & Wed - uniform required during all other classes.

Castle in the Attic Home Reading Agenda went home today. I hope students and families alike enjoy this tale of adventure, fantasy, and fun. Oral reading, Paired reading or Silent reading are all encouraged. Only two chapters a week. Please sign sheet in yoman each week when chapters complete. Mondays are Castle in the Attic follow-up days (discussions & activities).

No new homework tonight.

Math Program Launch

We started our Patterns Unit today with a warm-up numbers game and then related computational exercises. I was impressed with the skill and focus of this group.

For Monday - a few journals need to be completed. Most are up-to-date.

Bravo!!! - Everyone had three sharpened pencils and novel for Free-To-Read.

Great Beginnings

We had an excelent start to our Grade 4 year. We were happy and engaged. Our timetables and specialist schedules were in full-swing right after recess. Our day included homeroom activities and a short assembly for all Grade 4's in the Multi-Purpose Room. We started to unpack our supplies. We will finish distributing and labelling everything tomorrow.

Great to meet everyone!!!

Homework:
Bring three sharp pencils to class tomorrow.
Bring a novel (chapter book) to read during our Free-To-Read period.
