The Sun Came Out!

Aquarium Field Trip information has gone home in the yoman today (blue sheet). We're looking forward to the "Staying Alive" program on November 10. Please send $11.50 to school to cover the cost of the trip. We do apologize for the expense, but VTT is dealing with a tight year financially.

Journals were completed in class today, so no new homework.
A few Castle in the Attic booklets still to come in (due: today!!)

Our Grammar Detectives activity in the computer lab is finished, so the intentional mistakes in the blog entries will be corrected today. Ask your students to show you www.wordle.net!

Pro D Day tomorrow

Morah Etti joined the 4C's at Granville Island Stage today. She said the students got a lot out of the presentation by Gordon Korman and Tim Wynne-Jones.

Storywriting

We are starting to collect some Grade 4 writing in our scrapbooks. We look forward to showing you our scrapbooks during Goal-Setting Conferences.

Language Arts -
Castle in the Attic Booklet (Review of Chapters 1 - 6) - due Monday, October 26
This activity is a multi-intelligence approach to reading comprehension. A variety of visual formats, including Character Attributes Webs, Venn Diagrams & Sociograms are combined with a variety of answering styles (short, long, definition, one word).

We started our Modern Curriculum Press Spelling Program today. Each week we will do a pretest on Tuesday, word study and activities during the week, and a final test on Friday.

Sunshine!!!

Castle in the Attic - we had a giggle as the comedian, Victor Borge (remember him?), did a rendition of reading with punctuation marks. Then, we added correct punctuation to a summary of Chapters 5 & 6. Read Chapters 7 & 8 for next week.

Reading Rainbow #1 (Picture Book) - Students, read over the assignment and bring your questions to class next Thursday. Choose the book you want to review. Be sure it was very special to you. Do not start your written assignment until after our discussion next week.

Typically, every Thursday we mark our P.O.W. and have our S.Q.U.I.R.T. time.

Students need to be reminded about the following Security & Playground Routines:
1. No rough play
2. Line up at gate as soon as bell goes
3. Follow adult leader on sidewalk
